Universal Nutrition Jointment Support contains the proven one-two combination of glucosamine and chondroitin, plus ten other active ingredients including MSM and shark cartilage. Glucosamine provides the basic building blocks of proteoglycans (the substance of cartilage) and glycosaminoglycans (GAG). Glucosamine is an intermediate in mucopolysaccharide synthesis and its availability in cartilage tissue can be rate-limiting for proteoglycan production. Chondroitin and shark cartilage have been added to enhance the effects of glucosamine. Shark cartilage is rich in chondroitin sulfate. Other key ingredients include methionine, a sulfur-containing amino acid, which is vital for cartilage health. Manganese increases SOD (superoxide dismutase) activity. |
